A celebrated stall village of Awara where small eateries line up at the corner of Yunomaichi Plaza. Shops with distinct characteristics gather here—grilled chicken, oden, local specialty dishes—and the appeal lies in the distance that naturally sparks conversation between shop owners, other patrons, and yourself across the counter. You may choose to settle in at one shop and linger, or try a bit from various places and hop between shops that catch your interest. Wrapped in the glow of red lanterns and the misty atmosphere of the hot springs, you can warmly conclude your day of strolling through the hot spring town.

Tips

Operating hours and closed days vary by shop, with most opening in the evening. For early hours, feel free to enter shops that already have their noren curtains out. Since these are small stalls with limited seating, the key is to order small portions with hopping in mind. Cash payment is most reliable.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Early evening right at opening makes it easier to secure seating and is highly recommended.
