Experience the pristine water at Mishimizu (御清水), one of Japan's Top 100 Pure Waters, embodying Ono's reputation as a water-rich town

About this spot

A spring water spot symbolizing "the town of pure water" Ono, and selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Pure Waters. Once used as drinking water for the castle lord's table, it is also called "the Lord's Clear Water," and remains carefully preserved as a water source woven into the daily lives of local people. Crystal-clear water flows abundantly from the stone-lined water basin, refreshingly cool to the touch, offering ample freshness even in summer. The perfect place to conclude your castle town stroll by directly experiencing the blessings of the town's pure waters.

Tips

Many local residents visit to collect water, so please take turns and be considerate. If taking water home, bring empty plastic bottles or a water bottle (drinking use subject to local guidance). Within walking distance of Shichiken-dori (七間通り), easily accessible during your town walk. The ground may be wet in places, so non-slip shoes are recommended.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes required. Late afternoon when slanting light sparkles on the water's surface is also recommended
