Before entering the inner sanctuary, the whole family should rub Binzuru Sonja, a statue whose touch is said to cure illnesses. Beyond lies the Okaidan pilgrimage: a thrilling adventure where visitors navigate pitch-black corridors by feel, searching for the locks of paradise—an unforgettable experience for children.

Tips

Temple grounds are free to explore; inner sanctuary admission including the Okaidan pilgrimage is around ¥600 for adults (less for high school students and below). The grounds are flat and stroller-friendly, though the Okaidan has stairs, so carrying young children is recommended. Parking nearby is paid; arriving early ensures easier spots. Children uncomfortable with darkness can simply enjoy the main hall without the pilgrimage—it's still plenty of fun.
