View countless silk-like waterfalls cascading down, seen from near the waterfall basin
About this spot
One of Japan's most beautiful waterfalls, approximately 20 meters high and 150 meters wide, with Mt. Fuji's spring water flowing down as countless thin white threads from a curved cliff. The sight of white streams spreading like a curtain between the rocks is truly spectacular—it is designated a National Scenic Spot and Natural Monument, and is also a constituent asset of World Heritage Mt. Fuji. Walking down the footpath to near the waterfall basin, you'll be enveloped in cool mist and negative ions, providing a refreshing sensation. The contrast between the emerald-colored basin and white water threads makes for a perfect family photo.
Tips
About 30 minutes by car from the World Heritage Center; from the paid parking lot, walk through shops to reach the falls. To get close to the waterfall basin, there are stairs to descend, so a baby carrier is safer than a stroller. You can still view the falls from the observation area without stairs. The area can get wet from spray, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a towel.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. In the afternoon, sunlight shines on the falls and the water spray glimmers beautifully.
