Overlook Suruga Bay, Mount Fuji, and Numazu's Cityscape from the Observation Corridor

About this spot

A unique spot at the entrance of Numazu Port—a large floodgate designed to protect the port from tsunamis, fitted with an observation facility. Taking the elevator to the observation corridor at approximately 30 meters high, you'll find fishing boats below at the port's entrance, Suruga Bay, Japan's deepest bay, in front of you, and on clear days, a grand panorama extending to Mount Fuji and the Numazu Alps. The glass-enclosed corridor remains comfortable even on windy days, with displays explaining the port's workings—a perfect detour to work off your meal.

Tips

Admission is just 100 yen per adult, very reasonable, and within walking distance from the aquarium and Shinsenkan. The elevator means it's safe for stroller-pushing and families with small children. For Mount Fuji views, morning to early afternoon on clear days with good visibility is best, and daytime is more recommended than late afternoon, which has backlighting.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes required. Early to mid-afternoon offers the best views of Mount Fuji and pleasant lighting.
