Stroll by the Senbon Pine Shore to End the Day Gazing at Suruga Bay at Dusk
About this spot
A seaside park on a scenic spot called Senbon-Matsubara (千本松原), where a pine grove stretches along Suruga Bay. Passing through a green tunnel woven by countless pines, a pebbly beach and the widely-open Suruga Bay spread before you, taking your breath away with the sense of openness. The beach is perfect for walks accompanied by the sound of waves, and in the evening, the sea surface is beautifully bathed in soft light. The park has walking trails and open spaces where children can play and enjoy themselves right up to the end of the day.
Tips
A well-maintained park with parking and walking trails for easy strolling. The beach is pebbles rather than sand, so comfortable sneakers are recommended. The seashore becomes breezy in the evening, so having a light jacket is reassuring. On days with high waves, keep an eye on children and avoid getting too close to the shoreline.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. Late afternoon is when the light softens and the scenery of the pine grove and sea is most beautiful.
