Situated at the base of Inuyama Castle, this fox shrine has gained nationwide popularity as a matchmaking spot. Its signature feature is the pink heart-shaped ema plaques, and the sight of them completely covering the ema rack is a photogenic spectacle found nowhere else. The connected tunnel of vermillion torii gates is photogenic just to walk through, and couple photos here are a classic. The coin-washing pond in the grounds is said to bless money that will return doubled, a good-luck ritual couples enjoy together.
Tips
Entry and prayers are free, and offering a heart-shaped ema plaque costs around 500 yen. The torii tunnel is a popular photo spot, so aim for late morning when waits between photos are shorter. A strainer is provided for coin washing, so bring small change for smooth experience. Located perfectly between the castle and the castle town with ideal flow.
