Stroll the spacious Yodo riverside and play on the grassy lawns
About this spot
Part of the riverside park developed along the Yodo River's floodplain, this area spreads out right beside Hirakata's urban center. Vast lawns and grasslands stretch endlessly along the river, offering wide-open space where children can lose themselves in ball games, running races, or bubble play with minimal equipment. The majestic flow of the Yodo River, visible all the way to the opposite bank, and the breeze crossing the water provide a refreshing atmosphere—perfect for cooling down after touring the amusement park and museum. Standing atop the embankment, you can see across to the Hirakata Bridge and the mountains beyond toward Takatsuki on the opposite shore. Spotting passing birds and riverside wildflowers becomes its own delightful pursuit. As evening falls, the river surface begins to shine gold, creating soft light that signals day's end and leaves lasting memories for the family.
Tips
About a 10-minute walk from Hirakata Station (枚方市駅) toward the Yodo River. Restrooms are available, but there are no vendors, so bring drinks beforehand. The riverbank has little shade, so don't forget hats and water. The grass is wide and flat, making it easy to navigate with a stroller, though high water may restrict access after heavy rain—check conditions before visiting.
Best time to visit
Approximately 50 minutes. Late afternoon before dusk is ideal for riverside play
