A sake brewing memorial museum opened by Gekkeikan, founded in Kanei 14 (1637), by renovating a Meiji-era sake brewery. The museum displays sake brewing tools designated as Kyoto City's tangible folk cultural property, and exhibitions allow visitors to easily trace how sake is born from Fushimi's water and rice. The culmination of the tour is an adult's delight—the coin-operated sake tasting corner. By sampling a small amount of premium ginjo sake or seasonal varieties, you're sure to find a bottle that suits both of your tastes. The shop carries museum-limited sake, sake vessels, sake manju, and more—souvenir shopping will surely be fun. The surrounding area features white-walled storehouses continuing along the canal, making this a place where the charm of Fushimi, a renowned sake region, is concentrated.
Tips
About a 5-minute walk from Keihan Main Line Nakashojima Station, and also accessible from Fushimi Momoyama Station. The admission fee includes a souvenir and a sake tasting coin for those 20 and older. It can be crowded on weekends, so advance reservations on the official website are recommended. For enjoying sake tasting, visiting by train rather than car is advisable.

Approximately 1 hour required. Arriving late morning allows you to leisurely enjoy the tour, sake tasting, and souvenir shopping afterwards.
