A retro-style café and souvenir shop created by repurposing the former main office of Gekkeikan, built in Taisho 8 (1919). The interior, with its high ceilings and wooden design details, overflows with Taisho romanticism and provides the perfect calm space for a town-walk break. Specialties include sake-infused soft-serve ice cream and sake tasting sets featuring Fushimi's premium brands. Even those who don't care for alcohol can take a relaxing break with tea or coffee brewed with Fushimi's famous spring water and sweets. The shop displays sake from Fushimi breweries in abundance, allowing you to compare and purchase your favorite brand on the spot—a luxury of a sake region. Spending time leisurely in this historic building becomes a cherished memory of your Fushimi date.
Tips
About a 5-minute walk from Keihan Main Line Nakashojima Station, and just a short walk from Teradaya. Seating is limited, so weekend afternoons may involve a short wait. The signature sake ice cream may sell out, so early arrival is recommended if you're interested. Nearby on the canal is a boarding point for the Jukkokufune boat tour—combining a tour with your visit is also recommended.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. Around 2 p.m., after lunch crowds thin out, is an ideal time for a town-walk break.
