About this spot
Built at the former site of Kanayaguchi Station, the terminal of the Arida Railway line that sadly closed, this railway park carefully preserves vintage diesel rail cars such as the Haimo 180 and Kiha 58 that once ran along the route. On operating days, visitors can ride these preserved vehicles and experience the gentle sway of old-fashioned train travel—a nostalgic moment cherished by both children who love trains and grandparents who remember the original service. The adjacent Railway Exchange Center features a large diorama of model trains and exhibits about the railway's history. It's the perfect spot to start your three-generation trip, where grandchildren and grandparents can share in the excitement together.
Tips
About 20 minutes by car from Hanwa Expressway's Arida IC, or about 15 minutes from JR Fujinami Station. Free parking is available. You can view the vehicles in the park freely, but the Railway Exchange Center requires a small admission fee, and train rides require a ticket (both a few hundred yen). Since operating days are limited, check the Aridagawa Town official website in advance if you specifically want to ride. The grounds are flat and easy to navigate with a stroller.
Best time to visit
Plan about 1 hour. Arriving right at opening time is quiet and allows for leisurely viewing.
