Enjoy large play structures and expansive grassy areas on the Lake Biwa shore with plenty of active play

About this spot

A large prefectural children's park stretching along the Lake Biwa shore and a standard destination for families in the western lake area. The park features the iconic large athletic play structure, play equipment for toddlers, and expansive grassy areas perfect for running freely; just beyond the pine grove lies the Lake Biwa waterfront. The central facility, "Niji-no-Ie" (Rainbow House), is an indoor space for rainy-day play with hands-on experience events. From summer water play along the lakeshore to spring and autumn picnics on the grass, the park offers year-round enjoyment. With free admission, the facilities are surprisingly extensive, making it perfect for letting energetic children play to their heart's content. It is a reliable destination where you can devote the entire afternoon of your drive.

Tips

Admission is free; parking is 500 yen for regular cars. It is about 10 minutes by car from JR Adogawa Station; bus service is infrequent, so traveling by car is more reliable. The grounds are spacious and flat, easy to navigate with a stroller. If playing in the water along the shore, bring a change of clothes and towel. The grassy areas have little shade, so in summer prepare hats and plenty of water.

Best time to visit

Approximately 3 hours required. Afternoon and early evening hours allow for plenty of active play.
