Located near the summit of Ossaka Toge Pass (追坂峠 / おっさかとうげ), Makino's southern gateway along National Route 161, this roadside station offers excellent views—its greatest appeal is the sweeping panorama of Lake Biwa and the mountains of the northern lake region visible from the grounds. Stopping by in the evening allows you to spend a luxurious time reflecting on the day's memories while gazing at the lake. The farm stand is stocked with fresh morning-picked vegetables and fruits from local Makino and Takashima farmers, as well as local specialties unique to the lake region. The on-site bakery produces handmade bread that's popular, perfect as an afternoon snack for children on the drive home. A dining area is also available for a quick bite. From Makino Sunny Beach, it's approximately 10 minutes by car up National Route 161 toward Tsuruga; parking is free. Vegetables at the farm stand tend to sell out in the evening, so arrive early if you have items in mind. Popular breads may run low in the afternoon. Operating hours vary by season, so confirm closing time in advance for peace of mind.
