Gaze at countless stars in the planetarium and explore the post-town street exhibition with your family

About this spot

Just a short walk from Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station, this city museum is affectionately known as "Soraupo Yokkaichi" with its integrated planetarium. The planetarium on the top floor is equipped with state-of-the-art projection equipment that displays over 140 million stars and has been certified by the Guinness World Records as "the most advanced planetarium." The star-filled dome is breathtaking, and with the interpreter's live commentary, you and your family can immerse yourselves in a cosmic journey. In the permanent exhibition "Toki no Kaido" (Time's Highway), the streetscape of Yokkaichi, a historic Tokaido post town, is reproduced at full scale, allowing you to stroll as if you were an ancient traveler. A spot where you can spend plenty of time even on rainy days and a core attraction of Yokkaichi tourism.

Tips

About a 3-minute walk from the west exit of Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station with excellent accessibility. The permanent exhibition "Toki no Kaido" is free to view; only the planetarium requires admission. Screenings are on a time-slot basis, so check the day's schedule and secure seats upon arrival. The museum has elevators allowing you to move through with a stroller, and its proximity to the station makes it a reliable spot on rainy days.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 45 minutes. Arriving right after opening to coincide with a morning screening is the smoothest option.
