View the grand panorama of the port and industrial complex from the observation deck about 90 meters above ground
About this spot
Standing as a symbol of Yokkaichi Port at approximately 100 meters in height, it is known as the tallest building in Mie Prefecture. Umiiterasu 14, the observation and exhibition room on the top 14th floor, sits about 90 meters above ground. Through expansive windows stretches a grand panorama overlooking Yokkaichi Port and its industrial complex, Ise Bay, and on clear days, the mountain ranges of Suzuka. It's fun to spot passing ships and massive container cranes with your family, and the exhibits are rich with content for experiencing Yokkaichi as a port and industrial city. As twilight falls, lights illuminate the industrial complex, and the scenery transforms into what is renowned as Japan's leading factory night view. A spectacular sight truly fitting to conclude your day.
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from the city center with free parking available. For public transportation, taking a taxi or bus from JR Yokkaichi Station is convenient. An elevator provides quick access to the observation room, and strollers can enter as-is. Operating hours and days off vary by day of the week, so check in advance. On days with evening hours, you can even enjoy the factory night view.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. The early evening hours when light is most changeable are particularly beautiful; arrival before sunset is recommended.
