Finish Your Drive with Souvenir Hunting: Yoichi Apples and Wine

About this spot

A roadside station on Route 229 adjacent to the Yoichi Space Museum "Space Dream." Yoichi is the hometown of astronaut Mamoru Mohri and is known for apple and grape cultivation as a fruit-growing town. The gift shop carries Yoichi apple juices and sweets, wines from local wineries, seafood products, and other souvenirs quintessentially Yoichi. Located conveniently on the return route from Shakotan for a stopover, it's ideal for recouping any forgotten souvenirs as you wrap up your day. If time and interest permit, you can also peek into the adjacent Space Museum next door to view spacesuits and experimental equipment in impressive displays. Take a breather here from driving fatigue, and continue home with the lingering beauty of Shakotan Blue.

Tips

About 1 hour by car from Kamui Cape on Route 229, located at the entrance to Yoichi city. Free parking available. The adjacent Yoichi Space Museum charges separate admission and may have winter closures, so check opening status in advance. The roadside station's operating hours vary by season, so watch closing times if visiting in the evening.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30 minutes required. A late afternoon stop as you return to Yoichi city at the end of your drive is perfect timing.
