An artificial sandy beach that spreads right in front of the roadside station, nestled alongside the hot spring town. The gentle waves and shallow waters of this beach offer a picturesque view with Asamushi's symbol, Yuno Island, floating in the distance beyond children at play. While the beach is lively as a summer swimming destination, shell collecting and shoreline walks are enjoyable beyond summer season, making it a perfect scale for a child's first beach experience. True to its name, it's also known as a sunset viewing spot where the sunset sinking into Mutsu Bay paints the sea surface orange—a sight that epitomizes Asamushi. After seeing sea creatures at the aquarium, playing in the real sea here allows children to connect picture books with reality, creating a memorable experience.
Tips
Just a short walk across the pedestrian bridge from the Michi-no-Eki Yu-Sa Asamushi. It's helpful to bring a sand toy set, change of clothes, and plastic bags for wet items. The beach gets crowded during summer swimming season, so keep luggage minimal. With little shade available, don't forget a hat and plenty of water.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. The afternoon with bright light is ideal for play, and if you stay until evening, you can experience the beach's reputation as a sunset viewing spot.
