A roadside station in Shizukuishi Town, standing among the mountains along National Route 46 toward the Akita Prefecture border. Anekko is a local word for a young woman. The direct-sales corner is lined with vegetables, wild mountain greens, and rice grown by Shizukuishi farmers, as well as homemade side dishes and sweets, each labeled with the producer's name so you can shop with confidence. The eatery serves soba noodles and light meals made with local ingredients, and soft-serve ice cream is also popular with children looking for a snack. The grounds are spacious and relaxed, making it an excellent rest stop to stretch your legs before your drive home. As the finale to a day of pasture play and hands-on crafts, fill your basket with the bounty of Shizukuishi to take home. This is the last stop where you can close out the lingering charm of your trip on a delicious note.

Tips

About a 15-minute drive toward Akita along National Route 46 from Morioka Tezukuri Mura. Popular direct-sales items can sell out by evening, so it's best to browse with a treasure-hunting mindset. Taking a restroom break and getting the kids a snack before heading home is reassuring.
