Play with Iwate Wooden Toys at an Interactive Museum Experience

An interactive museum on the 2nd floor of the Marukan Building, filled with the warmth of wood. Founded as a sister facility to the Tokyo Toy Museum, the museum extensively uses lumber from Iwate Prefecture. Visitors can immerse themselves in pools of wooden balls, try traditional games like spinning tops and cup-and-ball, and play with handcrafted wooden toys—there are countless opportunities for everyone from babies to adults, especially elementary school children, to become absorbed. Staff and volunteers teach you how to play with the toys, so you'll quickly become engaged with new playthings. The convenience of moving directly from lunch at the grand dining hall is also a wonderful perk for families traveling with children.
Tips
In the same building as the Marukan Building Grand Dining Hall, so enjoying both is the standard approach. The museum is shoe-free, so easy-to-remove shoes and socks are recommended for comfort. Check the operating days in advance, as the museum has days off.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. After lunch in the afternoon is smooth, and it's easy to move on before the children become too tired.
