About this spot

This is a farm park spread across highlands at an elevation of about 500m at the foot of Mount Chokai. During the grazing season, Jersey cows are let loose on the pasture, and you can watch them leisurely grazing up close over the fence. At the on-site Hanatate Farm Workshop Mirujii (花立牧場工房ミルジー), soft-serve ice cream and yogurt made with freshly squeezed Jersey milk are popular, and the rich yet clean-finishing flavor is a treat unique to the ranch. Children can run around freely on the grassy plaza, and on a fine day you can capture a postcard-like photo with the grand form of Mount Chokai in the background. This highland spot lets everyone move their bodies and refresh after the train journey, bringing smiles to the whole family.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Yashima Station. Admission is free, but the opening period and hours of the shop and facilities change by season, so check in advance. The highlands are cooler than the lowlands, so something for children to layer on is reassuring. Don't forget to wash your hands before and after touching the cows.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. On a sunny afternoon, Mount Chokai is beautifully visible, making it a perfect time for a soft-serve ice cream break
