Grass Play and Craft Viewing at the Rural Park at the Base of Azuma Mountain

About this spot

A free-admission rural park adjacent to Anna Garden, located in the western part of Fukushima City with a view of the Azuma mountain range. Spread across approximately 8 hectares, the grounds feature expansive grass plazas, Western-style gardens, and a water wheel house. The park has gentle terrain and paved paths, making it safe and comfortable for strollers and elderly visitors. The Craft Hall offers paid craft experiences such as kokeshi doll painting and glasswork (available on-site for drop-ins), providing enjoyable options even on rainy days. There are also a restaurant and ice cream shop, allowing grandparents to rest on benches while watching grandchildren play on the grass—the kind of leisurely, unhurried time unique to three-generation visits. On clear days, you can even see Azuma Komafuji in the distance.

Tips

About 20 minutes by car from Fukushima city center, with comprehensive free parking. Bring a leisure sheet and ball if the children will be playing on the grass. Craft experience duration varies by activity, so check the finish time at reception before signing up. The park has limited shade, so don't forget a hat on sunny days.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes total. The mid-afternoon when the sunlight becomes gentler is most comfortable for grass play.
