The walking trail behind the roadside station is equipped with multiple viewing platforms at different elevations. From the upper platforms, a grand panoramic view unfolds with the arched bridge floating above the mountain-framed river. On windless days, the river surface becomes a mirror reflecting the bridge; when fog rolls in, the scene transforms into an ethereal ink-wash landscape painting. Because the Tadami Line runs only a few times daily, witnessing the moment a train appears is all the more moving. Waiting with friends, holding your breath for that fleeting instant, is the true essence of this place.
Tips
The viewpoint is a 10-15 minute hike along the walking trail from Michi no Eki Ozegaidō Mishima-shuku. The trail involves climbing stairs, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Since the Tadami Line operates only about once every few hours, always check the train schedule in advance before heading up. Popular times can get crowded with photographers, so be respectful when securing your spot.
Best time to visit
Allow about 1.5 hours. Arrive at the viewing platform 30 minutes before the train passes. Calm days offer the chance to photograph the bridge's reflection mirrored on the river surface.
