The meal features an array of carefully prepared mountain dishes: tempura of wild vegetables, mochi made from horse chestnuts, salt-grilled river fish, and handmade tofu. Dining on this mountain fare amid the cedar grove, accompanied only by the murmur of the stream and birdsong, is truly the highlight of this course. After eating, take a leisurely stroll along the pathways within the grounds and rest quietly, surrounded by deep green.
Tips
It's safer to make a reservation beforehand (note that there are seasonal closures, so confirm operating days in advance). The restaurant is about 15 minutes by car from Chizu Post Town. The grounds feature unpaved paths, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The mountain location is cooler than town, so a light jacket is recommended for comfort.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1.5 hours. At midday, the dappled sunlight filtering through the cedar grove is beautiful, and the view from your seat is most pleasant.
