Starting Point of Your Journey: Greeted by the Kitaro Train and Master Mizuki's Bronze Statue

About this spot

The final station on the JR Sakai Line, affectionately known as the "Kitaro Station," serves as the gateway to a yokai adventure. The Sakai Line features the Kitaro Train with Kitaro, Eyeball Dad, Cat Girl, and other characters painted across its entire body, and if you're lucky, you can see it on the platform. In front of the station stands a bronze statue of Manga Master Mizuki Shigeru seated at his desk with Kitaro and friends, marking the beginning of Mizuki Shigeru Road. The station building itself is designed to match the yokai world's aesthetic, creating a sense of wonder the moment you step out—as if you've entered a storybook. Start your Gegege Stroll by taking a family commemorative photo here.

Tips

By car, the city parking lot near the station or Hinodeiguchi Parking Lot are convenient options. Taking the Kitaro Train from Yonago Station (米子駅) makes the journey itself an attraction. Check train departure and arrival times in advance to capture the best photo opportunities.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30 minutes. Early morning sees fewer tourists, allowing for unhurried photos with the station's bronze statues.
