About this spot

This is the terminal station of the JR Sakai Line, also nicknamed Kitaro Station, and it is the gateway to a yokai-themed journey. The Sakai Line runs the Kitaro Train, its whole car body covered in illustrations of Kitaro, Medama Oyaji, Neko Musume, and more, and if you're lucky you might come face to face with it on the platform. In front of the station stands a bronze statue of Shigeru Mizuki writing at his desk along with Kitaro and friends, marking the starting point of Mizuki Shigeru Road. Even the station building's design fits the world of yokai, wrapping you in an excited feeling as if the story has already begun the moment you step off the train. Start by taking a family photo here to kick off your GeGeGe stroll.

Tips

If arriving by car, the municipal parking lot and Hinode parking lot near the station are convenient. Taking the Kitaro Train from Yonago Station makes the journey itself part of the attraction. Checking the train's arrival and departure times in advance helps you not miss a photo opportunity.

Best time to visit

About 30 minutes. Mornings have fewer tourists, letting you take your time photographing the bronze statues in front of the station
