White-walled namako-style mud walls and stately gates of samurai residences line the street, creating the iconic scenery that earns Tsuwano the nickname "San'in's Small Kyoto." Spring water flows through the irrigation channels along the street, and colorful koi swim leisurely—a distinctive sight unique to Tsuwano. As you walk, you'll encounter the site of the Yoro Clan Academy, which cultivated talent for the domain, and signposts indicating the path to Otome Pass, which tells of the Christian martyrdom history. The experience layers the castle town's history before your eyes. Take your time strolling along the stone-paved street, peeking into confectionery shops and souvenir stores.

The street is flat and easy to walk; a leisurely round trip takes about an hour. Fish food can be purchased at nearby shops; koi gather as you approach the irrigation channels. Early morning is best for photographing the townscape with fewer crowds. Confectionery shops along the street offer tastings of Tsuwano's signature sweet, Genji-maki.
