A natural history museum of Shimane Prefecture located in the northern plain of Sanbe Mountain, with the affectionate name Sahimeru derived from the ancient name of Sanbe, "Saibai Mountain." Inside, exhibits focus on Shimane's land and living creatures, and the impressive display of the actual giant cedar trunk excavated from the Sanbe Azuki-bara Buried Forest is truly spectacular. The planetarium with its dome screen offers a relaxing experience of programs unique to starry-skied Sanbe. With many engaging features for children, such as moving dinosaur models and natural observation corners, it's perfect for previewing the buried forest park you'll visit in the afternoon.
