About this spot

This flower-and-bird theme park spreads across hills overlooking Lake Shinji (宍道湖). Its location, right in front of the Ichibata Electric Railway's (一畑電車) Matsue Vogel Park Station, is ideal for a train trip. Inside the massive greenhouse, begonias and fuchsias bloom all the way up to the ceiling, and you can stroll as if walking beneath a chandelier of flowers cascading from above. In the interactive zone, the owl flight show and the waddling penguin walk time are hugely popular, along with the chance to feed toucans and parakeets. The park is connected by covered walkways, so you can comfortably make a full loop even with a stroller or on a rainy day.

Tips

Events inside the park, such as the penguin walk and the flight show, run at set times, so the trick is to check that day's schedule when you enter and plan your route accordingly. Since it is almost entirely all-weather, it is also perfect for a rainy-day plan.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 40 minutes. Entering around 3pm lets you catch the events while touring at a relaxed pace without worrying about closing time.
