About this spot
A limestone cave of impressive scale in the Chugoku region, its entrance gaping in a 240-meter cliff towering beside the Takahashi River. Inside the 1,200-meter passage, stalactites and stalagmites accumulated over long epochs create a continuous spectacle. Notable features include the "Earthshaft Waterfall" with a 50-meter drop and the "Silver Curtain" of hanging formations. The cave maintains a constant temperature of around 15°C year-round, cool in summer and warmly refreshing in winter—a world apart. Navigating the ups and downs of this adventurous route and emerging at the exit provides an unparalleled sense of accomplishment. The scenic Ikura Gorge spreading before the cave entrance adds to the experience.
Tips
A free parking lot and souvenir shop are located in front of the entrance. The cave features many stairs and narrow passages, so a backpack that keeps your hands free is recommended. Water drips from the ceiling in some areas, so bring a light layer and slip-resistant shoes.

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Morning hours are less crowded, allowing you to explore at your own pace
