About 110 Meters High and Acclaimed as the Most Spectacular Waterfall in the Chugoku Region

A celebrated waterfall with a drop of about 110 meters and a width of approximately 20 meters, renowned as the most impressive in the Chugoku region and selected for the Hundred Famous Japanese Waterfalls. Water cascades down the cliff face all at once like spread white silk, and during times of heavy water flow, the roar and mist envelop the entire gorge. The walk from the entrance to the falls takes about 15 minutes along a riverside path. Along the way, you'll encounter the Tamatare Falls (玉垂の滝), delicate like silk threads flowing down the rock face, and the journey itself through moss-covered rocks and clear streams is a natural forest bath. The area is developed as Kamba Falls Nature Park, where you may encounter troops of wild Japanese macaques. With cherry blossoms, verdant greens, and autumn leaves changing the landscape with each season, this is Maniwa's representative natural scenic spot.
Tips
An admission fee (300 yen for adults) is required. While the path from parking to the falls is well-maintained, the area near the falls becomes slippery from mist, so wear non-slip shoes. Do not feed wild monkeys or display food to them.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes needed. After rain or during snow melt seasons, increased water volume amplifies the waterfall's spectacular power.
