Morning Drive Break at the Hilltop Station with Views of the Seto Inland Sea
About this spot
A roadside station situated on high ground along the Okayama Blue Line, renowned as a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. From the observation grounds, one level up from the parking area, you can see the rolling hills leading down to Ushimado and the Seto Inland Sea stretching before you; on clear days, the silhouette of Shodoshima Island is visible in the distance. The facility includes a fresh produce market with locally-picked vegetables and fruits, a light refreshment corner, and a miniature railroad park where a tiny train operates. It's a popular stop for drivers and offers the perfect prelude to your Ushimado date—here you can breathe in the sea air of the Seto Inland Sea with a full chest.
Tips
The station is easily accessible as it connects directly to the Ipponmatsu interchange on the Okayama Blue Line, with ample parking. The fresh produce section has the best selection in the morning, and fruits and baked goods make perfect snacks for your drive. There is a gentle uphill path to the observation grounds, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Best time to visit
Allow about 40 minutes. In the morning, the air is crisp and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea are visible with crystal clarity.
