About this spot

Uno Port (宇野港) is a port town known as the gateway to the art islands, including Naoshima and Teshima. Around the port, unique artworks are scattered about, starting with the Uno no Chinu, a giant fish sculpture made by combining driftwood and scrap materials, so that just walking around feels like touring an outdoor art museum. A stroll along the waterfront, watching ferries come and go and gazing at the islands floating across the water, is perfect for starting your day. The walk from the station to the port is flat, so it can be enjoyed comfortably even with small children or a stroller.

Tips

Just a short walk from JR Uno Station. There are several paid parking lots around the port. The artworks are displayed outdoors, so you can view them freely, and mornings have fewer people, making it an easy time to take photos.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. In the morning, the light falls favorably on the port side, making it pleasant to stroll around viewing the ferries and artworks.
