Morning Stroll Through a Harbor Town with Art Installations and the Famous "Uno no Chinu"

About this spot

Uno Port (宇野港) is known as the gateway to art islands such as Naoshima (直島) and Teshima (豊島). Around the port, unique art installations are scattered throughout, including the giant fish sculpture "Uno no Chinu" (宇野のチヌ) made by combining driftwood and recycled materials. Walking around feels like strolling through an outdoor art museum. A walk along the quay while watching ferries come and go and gazing at the islands across the water is perfect for starting your day. The flat walk from JR Uno Station (JR宇野駅) to the port is safe and accessible even for small children and strollers.

Tips

Just a short walk from JR Uno Station (JR宇野駅). There are multiple paid parking lots around the port. Art installations are displayed outdoors and free to view; mornings have fewer crowds and are ideal for photography.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. In the morning, the port-side lighting provides ideal conditions for enjoying a pleasant walk while viewing ferries and art installations.
