About this spot

Though the mountain rises only a little over 200 meters, the area around its summit is lined with massive granite boulders and oddly shaped rocks, making it Tamano's finest scenic spot. Most famous among them is the Niko Niko Rock (ニコニコ岩), whose cracks and bumps look just like a human smile. Below spreads the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea's many islands, and on clear days you can even take in the Seto Ohashi Bridge and the mountains of Shikoku. A promenade is maintained from the parking lot near the summit, making it easy to walk even with children in tow. It is also known as a paragliding launch spot, and you might catch sight of someone gently taking off into the sky in front of you.

Tips

You can drive nearly to the summit, and it is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the parking lot to the viewpoint. Keep an eye on children near the rocky areas. On days with strong sea winds, having a light jacket is reassuring.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. In the clear morning air, you can see the Seto Ohashi Bridge and the mountains of Shikoku sharply in the distance.
