This coast features about a kilometer of white sandy beach backed by a row of pine trees, a classic white-sand-and-green-pine landscape. Chosen as one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches, this beautiful shore looks out over shallow waters to the Seto Ohashi Bridge and the mountains of Shikoku. In summer it bustles as one of the prefecture's leading swimming beaches, but at other times of year there are plenty of ways to enjoy it too, such as strolling the shoreline, playing in the sand, and collecting shells. A promenade runs along the coast, and simply sitting on a bench gazing at the sea is enough to unwind your mind. Enjoying Seto Inland Sea seafood for lunch at a nearby restaurant is also one of the pleasures of this course.
Tips
There is parking along the coast (it charges a fee and tends to get crowded during the swimming season). If your children will play on the sand, do not forget a change of clothes and towels. For lunch, either a restaurant near the coast or a boxed lunch in the shade of the pine forest is a pleasant option.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours. At midday, with the sun high, the contrast between the white sand and the blue sea is at its most vivid.
