A maritime museum conveying the history of shipbuilding and scientific technology in Kure; its formal name is Kure City Maritime History and Science Museum. The 26.3-meter-long, 1/10-scale model of the battleship Yamato displayed in the soaring Yamato Plaza is a masterpiece of precision, meticulously recreated in intricate detail. The museum also displays actual Zero-sen aircraft and special assault submarines, allowing you to learn how Kure, once praised as the finest naval port in the East, created the world's largest battleship and the stories of the technology and people behind it. There are also science corners where you can experience how ships float, making this a museum where both adults and vehicle-loving children can lose track of time, serving as the center of Kure tourism.
