About this spot
A small island with a circumference of about 4 km included in the Seto Inland Sea National Park, where feral rabbits live throughout the island, earning it the affection of tourists worldwide as the "Rabbit Island." The moment you step off the pier, the sight of friendly rabbits scurrying to your feet is unique to this place. If you crouch down on the grassy plaza or in the shade and offer them food, you can interact with them while feeling their soft fur up close. Since regular vehicles cannot access the island, it's safe even for families with small children. As you walk along the coastal path, a landscape typical of the Seto Inland Sea unfolds—sandy beaches, blue sea, and islands across the water—allowing you to enjoy both the rabbits and spectacular scenery simultaneously.
Tips
The trick to interacting with rabbits is to crouch and wait rather than picking them up or chasing them. Avoid feeding them on roadside areas. Since vehicles cannot enter the island, park your car around Tadanoumi Port before crossing.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. Early morning and dusk are when rabbits are most active, offering more opportunities for interaction.
