A museum tracing the artistic career of Ikuo Hirayama (平山郁夫), a Japanese painter born in Setoda. The compelling structure allows you to follow his growth trajectory, from childhood drawing diaries and sketches to preparatory drawings for major works featuring the Silk Road and the spread of Buddhism. Many of his pieces depict the serene Seto Inland Sea of his hometown and Shimanami landscapes; the moment when the images on the canvas overlap with the shopping street and island scenery you walked through this morning is an experience unique to viewing them here.
