Leisurely Stroll Along the Grassy Foothills of a 1,153-Meter Peak
About this spot
An unusual mountain with an elevation of 1,153 meters, its entire summit covered in grassland. This grassland has been preserved through traditional mountain burning practices, creating gentle ridgelines that softly blur the boundary between earth and sky. The south foothills feature maintained lawns and trails, allowing you to savor the grandeur of the grasslands without reaching the summit. After a hearty walk at Sandan-kyō, we recommend strolling leisurely around the base starting from Ikoinomura Hiroshima. Enveloped by the fragrance of grass and crisp air, your spirit will find peace.
Tips
Parking is available near Ikoinomura Hiroshima at the south foothills. The grassland has little shade, so a hat is recommended. For the foothills walk alone, ordinary clothing is sufficient.
Best time to visit
Allow about 1 hour. In the afternoon, the grassland faces the sun, revealing vivid green gradations.
