Year-Round Cool at 11 Degrees Celsius—Explore a Cave of Connected Stalactites

About this spot

A stalactite cave with its entrance opening along the Taisho Gorge walking path, featuring an approximately 200-meter corridor open to the public. The cave interior maintains a temperature of around 11 degrees Celsius year-round—refreshingly cool in summer and pleasantly warm in winter. Stalactites and stalagmites illuminated by artificial lighting create formations that showcase the remarkable sculptures water has carved from limestone over vast ages. While modest in scale as a side attraction during your gorge walk, stepping inside feels like entering another world. From children to adults, everyone can experience the thrill of exploration.

Tips

The cave interior stays around 11 degrees Celsius year-round, so bring a light jacket even in summer. There's a small entrance fee paid at the entrance, so have small change ready. Some areas have wet footing, so wear shoes with good grip.

Best time to visit

Approximately 40 minutes required. Visiting before or after midday in warm seasons creates a pleasant temperature contrast and enhances the sense of exploration.
