This is a viewing facility themed around Iwakuni's white snakes, located near Yoshika Park beyond the Kintai Bridge. The Iwakuni white snake, a white variant of the Japanese rat snake, is extremely rare worldwide and is designated as a national natural monument. With a translucent white body and ruby-like red eyes, it possesses a mystical quality and has long been treasured by local people as a messenger of the gods and a bringer of good fortune. Inside the museum, you can carefully observe live white snakes through glass, as well as view displays about their ecology and conservation efforts, bone specimens, and quiz corners—enjoyable for both children and adults. This is a must-see spot uniquely Iwakuni, especially when paired with a visit to the Kintai Bridge.
Tips
Located about a 5-minute walk from the Kintai Bridge near the entrance to Yoshika Park. All observation is through glass, so it's safe even for those uneasy around snakes. The compact interior is air-conditioned, making it an ideal rest stop on hot or rainy days.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 40 minutes. It's most convenient to stop by in the morning as part of your Kintai Bridge sightseeing.
