A grassland plateau at about 333 meters elevation boasting a grand panorama with the Japan Sea below and the northern Nagato mountains behind. The sight of white windmills set against the blue sky and sea truly resembles a "hill overlooking the sea," and on clear days you can see island shadows far offshore. A café overlooking the sea is situated in one corner of the grassland, and having lunch while enjoying the spectacular window views is one of the highlights of this route. After your meal, take a leisurely walk along the grassy paths or sit on a bench and experience the highland's open-air atmosphere fully.
Tips
Parking is free. The highland is windier with lower perceived temperature than the base, so bringing a light jacket is recommended. The café gets busy at lunchtime, so arriving early or visiting off-peak times is advised during busy seasons.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours required. Mid-morning when the air is clear offers the deepest blue sky and sea colors, ideal for a scenic lunch.
