About this spot

This village on the Mukaitsugu Peninsula holds a legend that Yang Guifei (楊貴妃), beloved concubine of the Tang Emperor Xuanzong, fled here by small boat after a rebellion. Nearby Nison-in Temple has a five-ring stone pagoda said to be her grave, standing quietly in the area now developed as a park. Tang-style buildings add to the foreign charm. As a place connected to one of the world's three greatest beauties, many visitors come to wish for beauty and romantic connections. A leisurely walk through this quiet rural landscape overlooking the sea allows for a peaceful respite after a day of continuous scenic vistas.

Free parking available. Few shops or vending machines in the area, so bring your own drinks. Visiting together with Nison-in Temple provides deeper appreciation of the legend. The village paths have gentle slopes, so wear comfortable shoes.
