Experience the Festival Through the Authentic Daytime Performance and Niwaka Ren Dance Experience

About this spot

A tourist facility at the foot of Mount Bizan where you can experience Awa Odori year-round. The daytime performance held in the hall features professional dancers from the resident troupe dancing to the rhythm of traditional two-beat music directly before you, and near the end of the performance, audience members also have the opportunity to join the "Niwaka Ren" experience—dancing on stage alongside the performers. Adjoining facilities include the Awa Odori Museum showcasing the history and costumes of the dance, and a specialty shop on the first floor offering Tokushima's renowned products, allowing you to experience the excitement of the festival and the charm of Tokushima all in one place. The Bizan Ropeway departs from the fifth floor; if you have time, it's worthwhile to ascend to the mountaintop for a panoramic view of the castle town below.

Tips

Check the official website in advance for daytime performance times and seat availability. Combined tickets with the museum offer good value. For lunch, popular Tokushima ramen shops are scattered around the kaikan; pairing them with performances before or after is recommended.

Best time to visit

Approximately 2 hours required. Coordinate your visit with daytime performance times, allowing for a leisurely stay that includes lunch and museum exploration.
