A michi-no-eki (roadside station) in Tsurugi Town standing along National Route 192 on the banks of the Yoshino River. Its symbolic spiral-sloped observation tower features a gift shop displaying local agricultural products and specialties, a freshly baked bread shop, and a light meal corner. Positioned at the entrance to National Route 438 heading toward Tsurugisan, it's the perfect stop to fuel up and stock provisions before your mountain journey. Local specialties such as Handa somen noodles and Iya souvenirs are well stocked. From here onward, shops become scarce, so purchasing water and trail snacks here is a smart choice.
Tips
The Tsurugisan route via National Route 438 is about 1 hour 20 minutes of winding mountain driving. Leave with plenty of time as curves are constant. It's essential to stock water and trail snacks here.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Complete shopping in the morning, so you can drive the mountain roads without rushing and arrive in time for morning hiking.
