Late Lunch and Local Produce Shopping at a Rest Area Tied to the Awa Daimyo

About this spot

A rest area standing along National Route 55, with the name "Kubo" referring to the Awa daimyo, who were connected to the Ashikaga shogun family and had their residence in this area. The on-site direct farm market displays rows of fresh-picked vegetables and fruits from local farmers, Anan's specialty sudachi citrus, and processed seafood products. The dining area casually serves set meals and noodle dishes made with local ingredients. As a perfectly-timed resupply point in the latter half of the drive, it's wonderful to take care of both a late lunch and souvenir shopping in one place. A tourist information corner provides details about the surrounding area.

Tips

Located conveniently along National Route 55 with ample parking. The dining area's last order may be early, so arrive with time to spare for a late lunch. The direct farm market tends to have limited stock by evening, so it's best to shop at the same time as lunch.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour. Visiting in the afternoon, outside peak hours, allows you to browse both the dining area and farm market at a leisurely pace
