A small traditional wooden house cafeteria at the foot of Nakayama Senmaita terraced fields, housed in a renovated old rice mill. The specialty is the "Terraced Field Rice Ball Set" (棚田のおにぎり定食)—rice balls made from freshly cooked rice grown in the fields right before you. Subtly salted rice balls come with seasonal vegetables and soup made from local ingredients, offering humble yet deeply satisfying flavors. From the wooden beam-ceilinged interior and terrace seating, you can view the green terraced fields—eating lunch within this landscape is a highlight of this tour. Warm rice settles gratefully into your belly after hours of walking.

Tips

Weekend lunch hours draw inevitable lines. Early afternoon is relatively quieter. Portions are limited and may sell out, so come early if you want to be sure. Bring cash for payment.
