A striking Western-style building blending East and West, featuring red brick exterior walls topped with a substantial Japanese tile roof. Originally built as a bank's main office, the English bond brickwork and imposing design carry the atmosphere of when modernity first breezed into the castle town. The building houses shops dealing in Ōzu specialties, galleries, and rest areas, with free admission. Strolling around the interior, including the separate buildings surrounding the courtyard, lets you appreciate the interesting interplay of brick and wood up close. As the culmination of a day spent walking past castles, townhouses, and sukiya architecture, this is the ideal spot to add final souvenirs and take a break.

Tips

Free admission allows for a casual visit. Evening hours, when slanting light bathes the brick walls, are perfect for photography. Located within walking distance of Ohanahan Street and Ōzu Castle, it fits seamlessly into your route back to the parking area. Check closing time in advance.
