Located at the gorge entrance in the Sekimon area, this museum focuses on the natural environment and mountain culture of the Ishizuchi range. Inside, you'll find taxidermied Japanese serows and wild birds native to Ishizuchi, specimens of butterflies and insects that color the gorge, along with rocks and plant materials. You can systematically learn about the natural world of Omogo Gorge you've just walked through. The exhibits of tools related to Ishizuchi faith and mountaineering history are equally impressive, and mountain enthusiasts may lose track of time gazing at them. Seasonal special exhibitions and nature observation events are regularly held, and visiting this intellectual spot in conjunction with your gorge hike will weave together the stories of Omogo's forests and waters into one narrative.

Tips

It's just a short walk from the gorge parking area, so you can easily stop by right after your gorge walk. Since closure days are set, it's wise to confirm operating days before your visit. While the exhibits are compact, they are rich in content—insect specimens are popular with children, and mountaineering history materials appeal to adults.

Plan for approximately 1 hour. Visiting right after your gorge walk allows the exhibits to connect with the scenery you've witnessed, deepening your understanding significantly.
