A 360-Degree Hill Where White Limestone Rocks Scatter Like a Flock of Sheep

One of the representative scenic spots of Shikoku Karst, located in a corner of Ono Meadow. The appearance of white limestone (Karrenfels) rocks surfacing countless times in the green grassland is like a flock of sheep grazing. Standing atop the hill, an unobstructed 360-degree panorama unfolds, and on clear days you can see all the way to the peaks of the Ishizuchi Mountains. The place name is said to be derived from a legend connected to samurai of the Genpei War, adding romantic appeal. The only sound is the wind passing through the grassland—enjoy the luxury of having the strange rocks and spectacular views all to yourselves as you leisurely stroll the gentle hill.
Tips
The walk from the parking area to the hill is through grassland, so sneakers are recommended. The wind is strong at the hilltop, so secure your hat. Limestone rocks are slippery after rain, so watch your footing carefully.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Morning light wraps around the landscape, making the contrast between white rocks and green grassland stand out beautifully.
