Paint your own design on white porcelain: Create a one-of-a-kind piece
About this spot
An experience facility nestled among Tobe Ware kilns and workshops, popular for pottery painting where visitors paint indigo designs on bisque ware. Choose from teacups, plates, mugs, and other vessels; sketch lightly in pencil, then paint with a brush. When fired, the indigo color develops brilliantly, revealing an expression different from what you painted—a uniqueness of fired pottery. Your painted creation will be fully fired and delivered to you later or shipped to your home. This experience of watching your child's free-drawn design become a one-of-a-kind vessel is the ultimate souvenir from this journey. Wheel-throwing and hand-pinching experiences are also available.
Tips
Walk-in reservations are possible, but advance booking is recommended on holidays. Finished pieces can be picked up later or shipped (shipping fee applies). Cobalt dye can stain clothing permanently, so wear clothes you don't mind soiling. Parents can gently guide small children's brushwork.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Include drying time and work with a comfortable pace.
