About this spot

A museum showcasing everything about Tobe Ware, displaying a wide range of works from traditional antiques to ambitious contemporary pieces. Tobe Ware's signature is thick, warm white porcelain enhanced by indigo painting (cobalt blue called "goshū"). Through tools, materials, and exhibits, you can trace the pottery industry's journey spanning over two centuries. The museum also displays and sells Tobe Ware—from works by traditional craftspeople to everyday pieces you can compare side by side. Viewing authentic masterpieces here before the pottery painting experience will enrich the time you spend with brush in hand.

Tips

Free parking available. The air-conditioned interior is a perfect cool-down spot after outdoor activities and is a manageable size. Favorite pieces can be purchased here. When viewing with small children, hold their hands and be mindful of the distance from fragile items.
